❗ CVE-2025-21311 is a critical elevation of privilege vulnerability in the Windows NTLM V1 authentication protocol. This flaw allows attackers to exploit weak authentication settings, enabling them to gain unauthorized access and escalate privileges on affected systems. Systems with NTLMv1 authentication enabled are particularly at risk. Exploitation requires no prior authentication or user interaction, potentially resulting in data breaches, unauthorized system control, and further network compromise.
ℹ️ This mitigation script implements the following measures:
Update NTLM Compatibility Settings:
Modifies the registry key HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa to set the LmCompatibilityLevel to 5, disabling NTLMv1 and ensuring only NTLMv2 is used for authentication.
✅ By running this mitigation script, you can disable NTLMv1 authentication, effectively reducing your system's exposure to CVE-2025-21311.
